CMS-Africa’s Youth Training Program organised an awareness campaign aimed at introducing this wholistic transformation program to Youths in Nairobi, Kenya. During this session held on the 28th February 2015, the Youth Programme Coordinator, James Kweyu, articulated the vision and mission of CMS Africa and her programs that covers all ages of human being. “We were privileged to conduct 3D’s (Discover, Develop and Deploy), awareness at St. Thomas church at Dagoretti Corner. This took the whole day of creating an awareness and introducing of the D3’s materials to youth from the church and the school around (Hidden Talent secondary school),” says James.
The team conducted an introduction of the 3D’s and how it can turn around the life young people in Africa. Giving and introduction of each program and what one can gain from taking initiative to go through the manual as a group. The Youth Tranining manuals helps the youth to discover the gifts and talents God created in them plus the knowledge and wisdom, then developing them to be of essence use. In other word, narrowing them to what they feel they cannot afford not to accomplish here on earth and finally deploying them to benefit first and foremost him/herself, church and the community at large.
We had a fairly good turn up of 19 young adult and Jackson Wanga, were privileged to bring to their attention that there is hope for young people who are coming up,” says . James Kweyu who heads the Youth Programme at CMS-Africa.
As a first step, the youth were encouraged to put their trust in God who is the author and finisher of our lives. Accepting Jesus Christ to be your savior is the first thing for young people who intend to realize their purposes and pursuits in life.
The meeting challenged the Youth in Nairobi to organize themselves in groups of five and then approach CMS-Africa to begin the empowerment program with them. CMS-Africa pledged its commitment to walk with the youth through the 3D training and empowerment process.
This full day interaction with Youth in Nairobi gave a clear hint to the perception that there is a high need of renewing the mindset and transforming the hearts of many youth and young adult in Africa. “The formal education systems promise jobs after studies. The reverse is true with so many young people in Africa jobless. The 3D program provides a perfect alternative to the young people to be able to realise their God given potential and maximize them for their god as opposed to waiting to be employed. This is the message that CMS-Africa through the 3D program seeks to spread across Africa, giving hope for young people.
“For us to enhance this program in the church around Africa, there is a need to develop manpower (TOT) and the greatest challenge is financial constraint. We, therefore, looking forward for any individuals or organizations to partner with us in supporting the TOTs in order, to remain focused on our goals of renewing mindset and transforming hearts,” said Jackson Wanga who is one of the Lead Facilitators of the 3D training program.
