| CMS Africa, CAPA sign MOU |
CMS Africa has sealed its partnership with the Council of Anglican Provinces of Africa (CAPA) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding that will govern their future working relations.Speaking during the occasion held at the CAPA offices in Nairobi, CMS Africa’s Executive Director Dennis Tongoi hailed the moment saying, “It is my prayer that this is one of those transitional moments in the history of our continent” He added that CMS Africa has always longed to establish partnership with an organisation like CAPA that has networks within the African Anglican Church circles. On his Part, CAPA’s General Secretary Rev. Canon Grace Kaiso said, “A time has come in our journey to transforming Africa, when we can freely call on each other. From our perspective as CAPA, this is a landmark period.” Historically, CMS Africa has keys to grass root communities and churches, while CAPA was formed in 1979 by the African Anglican Primates in Chilema, Malawi to enhance fellowship among bishops and provinces within the Anglican Communion. The MOU has been signed months ahead of the All Africa Conference of Bishops to be held in Kampala, Uganda in August, where the two organisations expect to tap the first fruits of the new partnership. |
