CMS is a pioneer mission agency that believes the church in Africa has a critical role to play in the emancipation of Africa. The dependency syndrome in Africa is the challenge to growth and development following years of a lop-sided relationship with the West. CMS Africa realises that this mindset poverty requires a mindset transformation.

The church, governments and the private sector in Africa are today convinced that what Africa needs are trade and investment opportunities, on a platform of economic justice and not aid. This is essentially what we are referring to as Economic Empowerment.

It is apparent that communities that once “begged’ for aid are now asking for their goods to be marketed in a fair trade environment without exploitation. The prophetic voice of the church needs to be evident for the liberation of our society. Essentially the scattered church has not been felt in the market place and CMS Africa is advocating for resources to be tapped into to form a paradigm shift.
