CMS-AFRICA PRAYER CIRCLE

16th September 2014

1st John 5: 13-14

"I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us"

 Pakistan

Please remember the political situation in Pakistan in your prayers. The peaceful protests in Islamabad that continued for more than two weeks turned violent on Saturday night which resulted in hundreds of people injured and three killed. The unrest and uncertainty continues in Islamabad, while the protests have also spread in many other cities. The protesters blame that the elections in 2013 were rigged and are demanding the Prime Minister to resign for a free and fair investigation. The government is in a very critical situation with a number of issues to deal with.

Kindly pray that the government and politicians find a peaceful way to resolve the issues so that no more people are injured or lose precious lives. Remember also the following various activities and visits that we have been planned in September:

1. Samaritan Strategy TOT in Lahore

2. Pray for Rev. Dennis Tongoi for the grant of visa as he will be leading the TOT

3. Pray for visitor from CMS UK planned to visit

4. Pray for the safety and security of all

and when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou [art] God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:

Liberia

Ebola Outbreak

Antony Tay, a CMS-Africa contact in Liberia reports that the Ebola epidemic is real in that West African Country. “We expect the aftermaths of the outbreak to be with us for another 6 months but we are doing civic education to educating our communities on symptoms and prevention measures” says Antony.

To date, slightly over 1500 people have died of ebola in West Africa and more than 2,000 people are infected with the virus, including two Americans who contracted the disease in Liberia, reads the World Health Organization report released at the close of the week.

Pray that the communities will be quick to appreciate the rising challenge and those who are on treatment will be keen to manage new infections as well as not stigmatise the affected people.

Please pray for those affected and the governments of the affected countries and all other agencies like the WHO and CDC who are involved combating this outbreak.

In such times, the economy is in depression and we ask that you pray for the investors and the Government(s) that they will restore order for economic activities. Commit the church of God in Liberia to become a source of encouragement to the people and become a source of healing for the nations out of this predicament.

Bishop Enoch Tombe  a Samaritan Strategy  champion is leading the church delegation to the peace talks. Pray that God would use both his words and testimony to course people to acknowledge God’s Kingdom view of people, resources and governance leading to true peace in this youngest African Nation.
